Sizzling Success: Lodge's Charity BBQ Raises Over £1,300!

Masonic Lodge BBQ at Galwally House, Belfast

On Saturday, 10 August 2024, the Lodge held a highly successful charity BBQ at our home at Galwally House, Belfast. The event brought together over 70 attendees, including Lodge members, visiting masons from across the province and beyond, along with friends, families, and even a few pets.

After days of rain, we were fortunate to enjoy a sunny and warm afternoon, perfect for the outdoor gathering. The BBQ featured a special treat of authentic German Currywurst, prepared by two brethren from a Masonic Lodge in Berlin, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The day was made even more special by the presence of numerous children, who participated in a variety of family fun games. These activities added an extra layer of joy to the event, making it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

This year, our Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Sam Bryans, nominated Angel Eyes NI as the primary beneficiary of the charity event. Angel Eyes NI is a local charity that supports parents and carers of blind and partially sighted children, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to help their children reach their full potential. “Angel Eyes is a charity close to my heart on a personal basis and has assisted my family recently,” Worshipful Brother Bryans shared.

We are pleased to announce that, through the generosity of our attendees, over £1,300 was raised during the BBQ. These funds will be distributed among Angel Eyes NI and other Masonic charities, helping to make a positive impact in our community.

Our thanks go to W. Bro Stephen Boyce, who served as Head Chef, with close supervision from his wife, Margaret, ensuring that the food was cooked to perfection.

The charity BBQ was not only a wonderful day of fellowship but also a testament to the power of community in making a difference. We look forward to our next gathering and the continued support of our charitable endeavours.
